The creator of Food Close uses the suppliers on this site frequently. In fact, the supermarket is only approached on the rare occasions when the local produce markets and shops nearby don’t happen to have a key ingredient.

Helping shoppers to support local produce

Food Close is designed to supplement great sites like Big Barn for those living in and around Derby, Nottingham or Leicester. Big Barn offer a fantastic service that allows you to build your own personal network of favourite suppliers. Food Close offers some more detailed advice about how to adapt to farm shopping from your usual supermarket approach. Food Close have tested the water and found that it is possible to integrate these superb local sources into your everyday shopping.

Where they are deserving of a special mention, you will find them on Food Close. At present, coverage of local farmers’ market traders is a key priority.
