Conveniently located in the lane between Sainsbury’s and the High Street is Beeston’s relatively new Farmer’s Market, another of Sally Collingham’s excellent collaborations with the likes of Eden Farms and Oslinc.

Get there early if you want to park as even Sainsbury’s overspill car park can fill up very quickly mid-morning. This is a fairly small market but you can find a good variety of staples. The Mount Pleasant Windmill supplies wonderfully fresh bakery goods including their fabulous scones which melt in the mouth. A range of smoked fish, cheese and meats are available from the Derbyshire Smokery. Eden Farms are there with their terrific range of locally grown, seasonal fruit, vegetables and eggs.

Sally’s Collinghams’s own stall form Combs Farm sells tasty Pork pies, sausage rolls and pork products - all organic and local. Other meats on offer include Ostrich, Kangaroo and Bison from Oslinc. aswell as Lamb from Brocklebys. You can grab an Ostrich burger freshly cooked on you way round!

Supplement your shop with groceries form the Out of This World Organic supermarket just opposite Sainsbury’s. They stock local and organic produce with strict rules on provenance and ethics you can trust.
