2nd Saturday of every month From 9am. Belper Farmers' Market, Market Place Belper, DE56 1FZ Regular Stall holders:
In Belper’s market place, next to the Cross Keys pub you’ll find a well attended market with one of the most impressive selections in the Derbyshire area. Lots of organic options as well as local produce This market is won full approval from FARMA (National Farmers' Retail & Markets Association) and it is easy to see why. You can complete a the majority of your food shopping here as there are meats, vegetables, sauces, cheeses, eggs, local ales, pies and treats like Yorkshire crisps or Cocoadance’s delicious, unique chocolates. Amongst the surprising finds was a cheese made with real ale from the Staffordshire Cheese Company called Captain Smith’s Titanic. This was originally made with the ale of the same name but is now produced using the cheese company’s own ale. There is ample parking around Belper and closer to the market place itself for those not keen to make the climb up King Street. Those looking for Fish can also find some fresh supplies just down from the market on King Street in a small kiosk. After a good look round the market its worth popping in for some refreshment at either the Salvation Army Hall on the square - which often runs craft sales, or the Fresh Basil Deli just round the corner on Strutt Street. You can pick up specialist and local deli items along with organic store cupboard items, crisps or cordials etc. |
