Tucked in just off the ring road in Castle Donington, you’ll find a school playground crammed full of local goodies. A busy market a refreshments area inside St. Edward’s School itself. This well established and attended market could easily satisfy your fresh grocery needs for the week and you can supplement this with any store cupboard items from the Co-op just on the way into Castle Donington. The Castle Donington museum opens its doors for an extra morning on the Saturdays when the Farmers’ Market is running.
If you like Garlic you can pick and choose from the selection of flavoursome preserved cloves from the Snoggable Garlic stall. F Jackson and Son provide grab size bags of vegetables from 50p. They also stock a range of plants including herbs and vegetables so that you can get cracking on growing your own!. Combs Farm offer organic pork products including their delicious Haslet, wide range of flavoured sausages including Gluten Free version, aswell as choice pork cuts. Staples like local eggs and bread are available from Annie’s Eggs and from 19 Gales Bakery. There is ample free parking just round the corner at the Castle Donington Community College and you simply stroll round a corner to find the Playground of St Edward’s School. The local museum open its doors specially on the Saturday the Farmers’ Market is held to welcome shoppers in for a look around. If you are ever there on a weekend when Donington Park is holding one of its music festivals you may find an unusual number of black T-shirt clad rock fans at the market in amongst the regular punters! |
